Merril founded Charterhouse Group in 1973 as one of the first institutionally-funded, private equity groups in the United States. His investment experience was developed during his years in investment banking at H. Hentz & Company and McDonnell & Company and in public accounting at the predecessor firm to Ernst & Young.
Merril currently serves on the boards of Continuum Health Partners and The National Humanities Center. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.S. from Rutgers University.
