Charterhouse Entrepreneur Program
We are continuously seeking to develop our firm's in-house group of Entrepreneurs within the Healthcare Services, Business Services and Consumer Products and Services sectors. The definitions of, and the criteria for, the types of individuals that we seek to partner with are outlined below:
Entrepreneur Group 1 - The CEO
This group includes senior managers who have had at least ten years of experience with profit and loss responsibility for businesses generating at least $100 million in revenue. This category includes former or existing Chief Executive Officers, Presidents, General Managers, Chief Operating Officers and, in certain instances, Chief Financial Officers or other highly seasoned, senior executives.
The individuals in Entrepreneur Group 1 seek to run businesses in the same industry where they have developed significant expertise or within industry sub-sectors contiguous to, or with attributes similar to, areas where they have had previous experience.
A CEO candidate may be currently managing a privately-held business, a public company or a division of a public company. This same individual's current business may be up for sale, or a future sale might be considered by its owners, or a prospective sale situation might be developed with the assistance of Charterhouse Group.
In other instances, a CEO candidate may be looking for a business to acquire and build in an industry sub-sector where he/she has developed an investment thesis or a well-documented business plan. An individual in this category may also be in a career change mode and may have access to other qualified managers or management team members who could also become play senior roles in identifying or creating business investment opportunities for Charterhouse Group.
Finally, a CEO candidate may include an individual (and possibly his/her team) who is seeking financing for a business where the preliminary terms of a transaction, or even a letter of intent or contract, are already in place.
Entrepreneur Group 2 - The Chairman or Board Director
This group is comprised of individuals who have already been senior executives and achieved certain levels of financial independence through building and ultimately selling one or more of the following: a privately-held business; a division of a public or a foreign company; and/or a public entity.
A candidate in this group desires to serve as a Chairman or Director on the board of one (or more) existing or prospective Charterhouse portfolio company. This individual desires to work closely with a Charterhouse investment professional and, ultimately, an operating team in order to nurture and build a portfolio company. In certain instances, the Entrepreneur in this category would come to Charterhouse with several well-developed general or specific investment theses and/or ideas for pursing business opportunities. If a partnership relationship evolves with our firm, this Entrepreneur's role would be to actively pursue proprietary opportunities in addition to helping evaluate the Firm's transaction flow of non-proprietary, sector-related investment opportunities. The Chairman or Board Director Entrepreneur candidate may also be a full-time mentor to one (or more) operating team(s) or work as an interim CEO in special situations.
Entrepreneur Group 3 - The Entrepreneurial 'Connector'
This group may include individuals who focus in one of Charterhouse Group's sectors - Healthcare Services, Business Services and Consumer Products and Services - and may possess non-traditional backgrounds received through a mix of operating experience, specialty industry consulting, recruiting, publishing, financing activities or otherwise. This individual may not qualify as a clear candidate for Groups 1 or 2 above, but may possess extraordinary skills or experience in order to connect the firm to candidates for Groups 1 and 2 or serve in a role as an advisor or board director for a Charterhouse portfolio company.
An individual in this category may already have a strong understanding of private equity and possibly be on the boards of other private, public or non-profit entities.
